69 @ 25

The Magnetic Fields are currently on tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their album 69 Love Songs. I saw them last night (and the night before) at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. Needless to say, both performances were fantastic.

Sunday, June 2 (songs 36-69)

Monday, June 3 (songs 1-35)

1962-2024

I had the pleasure of working with Steve Albini in 2005. He will be missed by many. Here’s a pic from the session…

Steve Albini, Dave Patrikios, Stephen Chopek, John Biz - Chicago, 2005. I was playing drums for John (with Dave on bass) for a few years, and we recorded his album The Happiest Days Of My Life at Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL. Steve Albini engineered / mixed the sessions in Studio A. We were there for three days in September, and stayed in the apartments upstairs from the studio. John wrote great songs for the album, and Steve did a fantastic job capturing the performances.

ATL RAP

Last week was the Atlanta Film Festival. Lots of great cinema! I attended a screening of a new movie at the Plaza called The South Got Something To Say. Excellent documentary about the past, present, and future of Hip Hop in Atlanta. Highly recommended!!

ATL to NYC

Back home in Atlanta after a week in New York City (and New Jersey) visiting family and friends. Had a lovely stay. A few snapshots…

March 28, 1964

Today marks 60 years since Radio Caroline took to the air. Looking forward to many more!

An incredible story of endurance and persistence, despite all manner of 'obstacles' put in its way, the legend that is Caroline continues.
